Forrest Parker "Butch" Howard, Jr., 77 of Long Beach, passed away Tuesday morning, October 17, 2023 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in New Orleans on February 24, 1946, the baby of three children to Forrest, Sr. and Lucille (D'Angelo) Howard. Butch was a man of resilience, charm, and a unique sense of humor that touched the lives of many. Butch's professional life was as vibrant and varied as his personality. He spent many fulfilling years working in jewelry sales, where his charm and keen eye for detail served him well. He was a respected figure at The MGM Grand Casino, Gordon's, and Wilson's jewelry stores. In addition to his career in jewelry sales, Butch was a proud Navy veteran, serving as an Aviation Structural Mechanic. Butch had a zest for life that was truly infectious. He was an avid fisherman, finding peace and solace in the simple act of casting a line. He also enjoyed the thrill of gambling, always ready to take a chance and embrace whatever came his way. A fan of wrestling, Butch could often be found cheering on his favorite wrestlers from his living room. Butch was more than just a fan of wrestling and fishing; he was a storyteller, a man who could captivate a room with his tales. He had a saying for every situation and a story for every occasion. Many of these stories were shared over cups of coffee at the Waffle House, where Butch was a regular fixture, always ready with a sarcastic word and a wry smile for whomever would listen. He was handy and wise, always ready to lend a helping hand or offer a piece of advice, even after you had finished the project. His wisdom was not just accumulated from books, but from a life fully lived, filled with experiences, challenges, and triumphs. The loss of Butch will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His stories will live on, told and retold by those who loved him. His sayings will be quoted, his wisdom sought in memory, and his love will continue to inspire. He may be gone, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. Butch was preceded by his parents, Flop and Lucille Howard, his brother Bob Howard, and his granddaughter, Davia Juliet Howard. Left to cherish his memories are: his son, Sean (Sandi) Howard of Ocean Springs, and his daughter, Stacia Martin of Long Beach; and his sister Betty (Otis) Page of Slidell. He leaves a legacy of nine grandchildren: Cayla (Adam) Wyss, Kimica Howard, Destiny Howard, Ryder Howard, Magenta Howard, Arabella Howard, Nicholas Martin, and Theresa Harmon, four great-grands: Haley, Ethan, Lillith, and Amy, along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and a wide circle of friends. Butch's final wishes were to be cremated, which his family is honoring. A Celebration of his Life will be held Sunday afternoon, Oct. 29th, 2023 at the Harper McCaughan Town Green Pavillion in Long Beach. Friends are welcome to come reminisce with the family. He will be interred at Biloxi National Cemetery with US Navy Honors. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Howard family in their time of need and asks everyone to keep them in your thoughts and prayers during this trying time.
