Floyd Lee Lofton, Iii

September 15, 1966 — April 13, 2020

Jackson, MS

Floyd Lee Lofton, III, 53 of Jackson, passed away April 13th at St. Dominick Hospital in Jackson. He was born September 15, 1966 in Jackson, the oldest of two sons to Floyd Lee II and Emma (Taylor) Lofton. "Lee" as he was known by those closest to him, grew up in the capital city and from an early age loved to read. He also enjoyed riding horses and killing ants. Among his favorite things to read were comic books, obtaining quite a collection of them over the years. He also enjoyed a good sci-fi book to boot. Lee graduated from Calloway in 1984 and went on to Hinds CC where he became an LPN. He worked for a few years in that capacity before returning to Hinds for his Associates Degree of Nursing, spending the next 25 years as a Registered Nurse in the health care. Lee was a well-read, educated man that loved to talk. Strangers were something that didn't really exist in his world as he could, and very often did, strike up a conversation with anyone. He is remembered as a great father who worked hard to provide whatever his family and children needed or wanted. Lee was their best friend and did his best to instill confidence in them. They could and did come to him for anything in life. A loving husband and friend to many, Lee will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by all whose life he touched. He was preceded by his father, Floyd L. Lofton, III; his brother, Demetrius E. "D.D." Lofton; and his grandmother Geneva "Big Momma" Taylor. Left to cherish the many memories are: his dedicated wife of 34 years, Verma Kay (Lee) Lofton; their children: daughters Latoya and Carissa Lofton, and a son, Floyd L. "Man" Lofton, IV, with his mother, Emma Lofton, all of Jackson. He also leaves numerous extended family members, countless friends and many co-workers accumulated over the years. His final wishes were to be cremated, which his family is honoring. A Celebration of Life will be set and held at a later date. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Lofton family in their time of need, asking everyone to hold them in your prayers over the coming days.
