Mr. Floyd Burton "Bubba" Gill Jr

Floyd Burton "Bubba" Gill, Jr., 63 of McHenry, passed away at his home on Thursday, Dec. 28. 2017. Bubba was born October 22, 1954 in Gulfport, the 2nd of 5 children to Floyd Sr. and Helen Gill. He grew up in West Gulfport, and came to love hunting, fishing, and shrimping. He was an outgoing young man, who became the designated salesman for their catches. He became fond of drag racing and classic cars as well, and so enjoyed crusin' in his '55 Chevy Bel Aire. Bubba made a career as an electrician, and spent 24 years with the Gulfport School System before retiring in 2006. He so enjoyed his family, and loved to go camping, hunting in Noxubee county, frequently visited the Smokey Mountains, and was King of the Krewe of Ditzy Dames and Horny Toads at Mardi Gras. He will be remembered as a fun-loving man who laughed a lot, was always busy, and gave everyone an affectionate nickname. Bubba was a loving and devoted husband who provided for his wife and family for 42 years, and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd Sr. & Helen Gill. Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife, Tonja; their children, daughter Tahaira (Jeff) Anderson of Gulfport, and son Kyle (Charli) Gill of Saucier; his siblings: sisters Anita (Billy Wayne) Hollingsworth of Saucier, Connie Briscoe and Cinda (Wallace) Lizana, both of Gulfport, and a brother, Billy (Rocki) Gill of Grey, LA; grandkids Amber, Dakota, and Montanna Anderson, and Ryan and Nate Gill; numerous nieces, nephews, with a host of friends and royal subjects. The family will receive friends for visitation at 12:00 PM on Saturday, Dec. 30 at Trinity Funeral Services in McHenry, with a chapel service at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow at Smith Cemetery in Steep Hollow. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Gill family, and asks that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers through this difficult time.
