Florian Edward Hickman, 49 of the Big Level community, departed this life around 3:30 PM Tuesday afternoon, April 8th, 2025. He was born February 6, 1976 in Hattiesburg, one of two children to Florian Love and Billie Ruth (O'Neal) Hickman. Eddie, as he was known to most, grew up in Big Level with his family and loved the outdoors. Fishing and spending time in the logging woods with his dad were among his favorite things to do as a young boy. He followed his dad's footsteps and got into truck driving and equipment operation, and got his first job running a forklift at Wiggins Lumber Company. From there, it was on to International Paper, Owens Logging, Dirt, Inc., Johnny Diamond, and a few others over the years, from mechanic work to driving and operating equipment. He is remembered as a loving son, brother, father, and friend to many, one who would readily give you the shirt off his back and his last penny to boot...if you needed it. Eddie's passion for fishing was always there, finding time to wet a hook whenever possible. He wasn't one to sit around a television, but when he did, it was usually to watch some wrestling. Eddie loved being outside and that's where he spent the majority of his time, either working or fishing somewhere. For all that he was, he will be forever missed by all whose life he touched. He was preceded by his grandparents, Bill and Ruth O'Neal and Clint and Doris Hickman, with great grandparents B.L. and Nettie Davis Eph and Nancy O'neal. Left to cherish his memories are: his only son, William "Willie" Hickman of Gulfport; his loving parents, Florian and Billie Ruth Hickman of Big Level; his sister, Tiffany Loper, also of Big Level, and his nephew Tyler Loper, along with numerous extended family and friends made through the years. A graveside service will be held Friday morning, April 11th, 2025 at 11:00 AM in the newly established F.L. Hickman Family Cemetery on Ruth Road where the family has lived for many years. Bro. David Perry will officiate and friends are more than welcome and encouraged to attend. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Hikcman family in their time of need and asks everyone to keep them in your thoughts and prayers over this trying time.
