Fernande Theresa (Hamel) Mcguire

Fernande Theresa McGuire, 73 of McComb, passed away Tuesday at SWRMC in McComb. Born October 25, 1946 in Concord, New Hampshire, she was the youngest of five children to Ambert & Fernande (Poisson) Hamel. Fern, as she was affectionately known, grew up in the Concord area. An adventurous-spirited young lady, she came to enjoy motorcycles along the way. She loved to ride, but that grew to racing along the way. Fern enjoyed racing around the White Mountains, owning a Norton in her younger years. After graduating high school in the early 60s, she met John and they established their home in Concord as well. Together they had a couple of small businesses, until he went to work in the oil field and the travelling was on. They lived in several states, mostly coastal areas, enjoying every one. Among their favorites were NC and LA, but they chose rural SW Mississippi for retirement. They lived in Enon for a while and later to McComb. Fern was a fun-loving lady who enjoyed laughing. She always saw the positives in everything, especially people. A loving, dedicated daughter, sister, wife and mother, she will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded by her parents, Albert & Fernande Hamel. Left to cherish her memories are: her loving husband of 50 years, John T. McGuire; their children, a daughter Dallas McGuire of Vermont and a son, John McGuire, II of Austin, TX; her siblings: three brothers - Albert, Anthony and Robert Hamel, with one sister Annette Hamel, all of New Hampshire, along with several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends, scattered in several states along the way. Fern's wishes were to be cremated, which her family is honoring. A memorial service may be set for a later date.
