Ursla Mae Nellums, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2026, in Mississippi. Born on August 22, 1961, in Mississippi, Ursla's life was a testament to hard work, devotion, and kindness.

A woman of deep Christian faith, Ursla lived her life with a warmth that touched everyone she met. She was known for her radiant smile that never faded, illuminating any room she entered. Her easygoing nature made her approachable and loved by many, as she effortlessly made friends wherever she went. Ursla had a remarkable ability not only to connect with people but also with the earth itself. She was a gifted gardener who could plant a tree with love and care, watching it grow and thrive just as she nurtured those around her.

Ursla was a remarkable professional truck driver, admired for her dedication and skill in a demanding profession. Alongside her career, she was an exceptional homemaker, managing her household with grace and strength. Above all, she cherished her family deeply, always placing them at the center of her life.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 24 years, David Nellums, who shared a life full of love and partnership with her. Their children—Sondra (Brandon) Levine Finnegan, Terrence (April) Nellums, Cierra Allison Nellums, and Richard (Jessica) Meadows—carry forward her legacy of love and commitment. Ursla's joy extended through her grandchildren, Tayler (Shiloh) Prohaska, Alexis Trainor, Brittany Mae (Michael) Alto, Allex (Donnie) Tanner, Xela-Kay Allen, Xavier Allen, Faith (Dillon) Alfred, Treyvon Nellums, and R.J. Meadows, and her great-grandchildren Kinley Prohaska, Isabel Prohaska, Dawson Trainor, Jackson Powell, Lucas Alto, Willow Sullivan, and Wynter Tanner, who brought her immeasurable happiness.

Her siblings Sue (Ray) Blanchard, Bell (Brad) Ford, Selina (Leah) Byrd, Mitchell Dearman, and Fred (Miranda) Byrd, as well as her mother Dola (Andy) Mae Blanchard, remain blessed by her presence in their lives.

Ursla is preceded in death by her father, Eno Byrd; her sister, Molly Kay Dearman; her grandparents, Quitman and Froina Hunt; and her uncle, John Henry Hunt.
