Emerson Joseph "Satch" Husley II

Emerson Joseph “Satch” Husley II, a lifelong resident of Woolmarket, born May 15, 1970 to Emerson Joseph “EJ” Husley and Charlotte Redmon Husley, passed peacefully into the presence of his Savior on June 3, 2026, in Gulfport, Mississippi where he was surrounded by the love, prayers, and songs of family and friends gathered around him.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Orin W. Husley and Mittie L. Husley, and his maternal grandparents, Charles S.C. Redmon and Patricia Ann Redmon.

Emerson is survived by his wife of nearly 35 years, Shannon Husley; their son, Joseph Nathaniel Husley; his parents, EJ and Charlotte Husley; his brother, Samuel Husley and wife, Kelly, and their children, Alyssa Morgan, Cheyenne Husley, Macy Husley, and Hunter Husley. Cherished and loved as a son and brother by his family through marriage, he is also survived by his father- and mother-in law, Alfred and Linda Bosarge; and his brothers and sisters by marriage: Nadine Amaya; Al and Angie Bosarge; Rachael and Peter McAllister; Ben and Ashley Bosarge; Miriam and Dennis Deemer; and Hansel and Pamela Bosarge. He also leaves behind many beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Emerson first met the love of his life, Shannon, while attending Woolmarket Elementary School together. He graduated with honors from D’Iberville High School in 1988 and continued to further his education through Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. Emerson and Shannon married on June 15, 1991, and built a life together centered on faith, family and love. Joseph, who was Emerson’s pride and joy, fondly describes his father as “a big lovable, huggable marshmallow.” Emerson’s warm, gentle and nurturing nature made him an extraordinary husband and father, and a trusted role model to his nieces, nephews and students.

After working in various occupations, Emerson discovered his true calling in education when he returned to his roots at D’Iberville schools. As the school says, “Once a Warrior, always a Warrior.” He quickly became a beloved member of the Warrior family. His principal and colleagues remember him as a remarkable soul whose positivity brightened every day. Students remember his freely given gifts of time, willingness to listen and sincere acceptance, support and encouragement. In 2026, Emerson was honored as Staff of the Year at D’Iberville Middle School, a fitting recognition for someone who embodied the school’s motto: Compassion. Respect. Hard Work.

Emerson often said the song “Nobody” by Casting Crowns reflected his heart: “I’m just a nobody trying to tell everybody all about Somebody who saved my soul… I'm living for the world to see nobody but Jesus,” and he lived with that purpose. He was at home among his church family at Bread of Life Ministries in Perkinston, where he felt blessed to teach Sunday School.

Emerson was creative and enjoyed various arts and woodworking. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors. He was always ready for adventure, whether enjoying everyday moments close to home, making memories with family and friends or traveling for family vacations, especially to the Smoky Mountains and Pennsylvania, which hold treasured family memories.

Emerson walked humbly among us with an unusual ability to see the best in others and help them recognize it in themselves. He made people feel valued, seen and important, and his legacy and influence will live on through all who knew and loved him.

As we grieve the sudden loss of one so deeply loved and integral to the fabric of his family, church, school and community, we give thanks for a beautiful life well lived. He will be deeply missed, never forgotten, and forever loved.
