Ellis Michael Smith

Ellis Michael Smith, age 73 of Purvis, MS, passed away on May 12, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born to Ellis and Elnora (Lewis) Smith in Poplarville, MS on March 28, 1947. Mike or Mutt as those close to him called him played basketball for Baxterville and Purvis High School. He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force and proudly served in the Vietnam War. Mike was a loving husband and caring father.  He was an avid outdoorsman and hunter. He loved God and His creation, spending countless hours enjoying nature. Mike is preceded in death by his parents; Ellis Douglas and Elnora  "Peewee" (Lewis) Smith and brother, Terry Joe Lewis. Mike is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Carolyn Smith; Children, Gwen Shepherd, Jeff Smith and Adam (Deidra) Smith; Grandchildren, Joshua Teck, Caleb Teck, Kristin Miller, Lake Smith, Kellie Smith, Donovan Smith, Chase Shepherd and Paul Smith; 5 great-grandchildren; siblings, Evelyn Parker, David (Donna) Smith, Billy Rex (Debbie) Lewis and Gayle (Allen) Frizzel; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 16 at 3 pm at the family home of Mike, 12 Old Okahola School Rd., Purvis. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Baptist Church of Purvis, MS or the American Lung Association.  Trinity Funeral Services is honored to assist the Smith family during this difficult time and ask that you keep them in your prayers.
