Elizabeth Ann (Holliday) Whittington

September 3, 1945 — January 14, 2025

Wiggins

Elizabeth Ann Whittington, 79, of Wiggins, entered her heavenly rest on January 14, 2025, at Gulfport Memorial Hospital in Gulfport, MS. Elizabeth or "Liz" as she was lovingly known, was born one of six children to her parents Melvin and Lillie (Fisher) Holliday, on September 03, 1945, in Louisiana. Liz grew up in Mt Hermon, Louisiana where she spent her mornings before school, working the dairy farm her family owned, by milking the cows and of course there was always a crop that needed to be picked. Liz and her siblings worked hard sunup to sundown, making sure all their chores were complete before dinner. For fun, Liz learned to sew and quilt, something she enjoyed throughout her life. From a young age, Liz enjoyed being outside, and she thoroughly loved tending to her flowers. Aside from getting to love their farm animals, Liz had a special love for horses and as an adult, she loved her yorkies, which always seemed to have the name Bella. In 1966, Liz would marry her sweetheart, T.W. Whittington and together they raised their family right here in Stone County after moving with T.W.'s job in 1967. She was known for her coconut cake and her love of being in the kitchen cooking. She was a caregiver by nature, caring for kids and T.W., who was cared for day in and day out until he passed. Liz shared her passion of being outdoors with her grandkids, spending many summer days kayaking red creek with Jager. She was a shopper, and when her sisters came to visit, they were sure to be sent home with more shoes and clothes than would fit into their suitcases. Liz was a traveler, always enjoying a new adventure to be explored. She was a hard worker and was well known by the jobs Liz held around Stone County. Ms. Liz was a manager at Piggly Wiggly and a school bus driver for Stone County Schools for many years. Her last and final job before she got sick was at MGCCC, Perkinston Campus, where she was a dorm mom on the weekends. Liz loved to work, and she ran a tight ship! She will be immensely missed by all who knew and loved her.  Liz is preceded in death by her husband, T.W. Whittington; their daughter, Jackie Nye; her parents Melvin and Lillie Holliday; and two brothers Melvin Holliday, Jr., and Michael Wayne Holliday. Left to cherish her legacy, her two grandchildren, Austin (Laura) Nye, and Ashtin (Matt) Parker; eleven great-grands: Jayden, Jonathon, Chase, Mackenzie, Raelynn, Harlow, Trent, Jager, Bo, Karstin, and Adalynn; and three sisters, Brenda Blades, Becky McDaniel, and Bennie (Randy) Rushing. Liz leaves a legacy of numerous extended family, friends, and neighbors that she loved so much! Liz's wishes were to have her body donated to science, which her family is honoring. A celebration of the life she lived to the fullest every day, will be held Saturday, January 18, 2025, at Berean Baptist Church in Wiggins, beginning at 3:00 pm. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Whittington family and would ask that you keep them all in your thoughts and prayers in the days to come.
