Elizabeth Ann Gill, 64 of the Sanford community, passed away July 26th at Memorial Hospital in Gulfport. She was born March 03, 1958 in Born, MA, the youngest of two children to Thomas Jefferson, Jr. and Marion Margaret (Morgan) Crabtree. Elizabeth was there for a short time, spent some time in California before the family settled in Hattiesburg, while her father served in the US Navy and US Air Force. She was definitely a South MS country girl, what most will call a tomboy. She loved the outdoors, camping, swimming, riding horses, and most anything else outside. Becky, as she was known by most, was not a girly girl at all. Her and her brother Butch were very close, and did most everything together. From building treehouses to singing together, they did it all. She attended Hattiesburg High School, graduating with the Class of 1976. She married Jimmy Gill right out of high school, and made their home in Petal originally. A few years later, they moved to Wiggins, where Jimmy cooked at Count's Restaurant on Hwy 26. Becky returned to school, attended Gulf Coast Community College where she earned her Associates Degree, graduating with honors in 1987. She had a few jobs here and there, working as a computer programmer for a while, also working for the MS Department of Human Services for a few years as well. The jobs just weren't satisfying to her because Becky's role in life was taking care of others. She served as a personal care giver for both of her parents, and more recently, for Jimmy, doing whatever they needed. She had a heart as big as they come and was the type of person who loved everyone. If you knew Becky, you know she was literally never at a loss for words. If she wasn't talking, something was definitely wrong. She could talk with the best of them, and sing...boy could she! Becky played guitar and sang for many years with her brother and other family members, performing in many churches around South MS, and on the McCaffrey Hour. She loved her family and enjoyed playing family games and watching the Crimson Tide play football, which was about the only time you couldn't talk around her. An amazing person in every aspect, Becky was one you could count on to keep your deepest secrets. A wonderful daughter, sister, mother, and grandmother, she will be sorely missed by all whose life she touched. Becky was preceded by her parents, Tommy and Maggie, or "Big Mama and Boss Man", Crabtree, Jr. Left to cherish her memories are: her children, daughter Jamie (Jerod) Bowman of Wiggins, and her son Joey Gill of Petal; and her loving brother, Butch (Vickie) Crabtree of Sanford, with two close nieces, Lori (Steve) Hibley and Amanda Denise, with their children: Tyler, Haley, Summer, Destiny, and Brandon. Becky leaves a legacy of five grandchildren: Ashton Gill, Gorgia (Ricky) Hall, Tommie Carlisle, Ayden Gill, and Kanin Gill, along with five great-grands: Arora, Braxton, Hadley, Brooklyn, and soon-to-be-born, Kal-El, along with many extended family and friends. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM Friday morning, July 29, 2022, in the Bullock Cemetery in Seminary, MS, with her brother Butch officiating. Since this is certainly not a final goodbye, rather a see you later, Becky would simply say..."moore, moore, moore"! In lieu of floral arrangements, please consider making a donation to help the family offset funeral expenses. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Gill family in their time of need, and asks that you remember them in your thoughts and prayers over the coming days.
