Edward Earl Yoho, known fondly as Ed to his friends and loved ones, closed the final chapter of his extraordinary 74-year journey on May 10, 2025 in Wiggins, Mississippi. Born at the Bolling Air Force Base in Washington, D.C. on September 29th, 1950, Ed carried the spirit of dedication and service inherent in his birthplace throughout his life. Ed left behind a trail of laughter wherever he went, and he carried a deep love for sports, technology, and the occasional practical joke. Ed’s early years were shaped by the values of service and community, imparted by his late parents, Katy Land Yoho and Earl Edward Yoho. He grew up alongside his siblings, Catherine Yoho Grey, Eric, and James (Jimmy) Yoho, all of whom preceded him in death, except for his sister-in-law Pam Yoho and brother-in-law Jim Gray. After completing his Associate’s degree,Ed embarked on a distinguished 20-year career at the Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi. His commitment to his country did not end with his military service. Following his retirement, he devoted another 27 years working as a contractor on the Air Force Base, marking nearly five decades of unwavering dedication to his fellow service members and his nation. At home, Ed’s life was filled with love and laughter. He was a devoted husband to his wife,Kathy Slaughter Yoho, who stood by his side in every walk of life. This dynamic duo was known for their kind-hearted mischief and unwavering partnership. Together, they raised two daughters, Sarah Wilson, who inherited her father’s sharp wit, and the late Katelyn Yoho, who undoubtedly greeted her dad with open arms upon his arrival at the pearly gates. His grandchildren Chanlyn Yoho, Brayleigh Yoho, Bryson Wilson, and Shelby Wilson brought immense joy to his life. He also relished his time as a great-grandfather to Arden Giles and Alanah Foster, imparting wisdom and sharing countless laughs. The Yoho legacy extends through his son-in-law Kenneth Wilson Jr., nephew Jason Yoho, and close family friend Renee Summers Platt. Ed is remembered as someone who could lighten up the room with his funny and upbeat nature. His generosity was felt by all, and his intelligence was as evident in his personality as it was inhis impressive career. Those who knew Ed knew that his interests were as varied as the punch lines of his favorite jokes. A master of the pool cue, an insatiable curiosity for technology,a passion for basketball and softball, and his family’s go-to comedy tech support. This multifaceted man found delight in the simple pleasure of flipping through joke books, and often his friends and family were the recipients of his humor. Ed lived a life that was full, vibrant, and marked by the kind of laughter and kindness that will continue to resonate with all who were touched by his life. His life was a testament to the power of the importance of family and the honor of service. Ed’s life will be celebrated by his family and friends in a ceremony that honors his service, his joy for life, and the love he had for his family.
