Edward Scott Thompson, 72, passed away on Sunday, July 17, 2022, in Biloxi, MS. Scott was born on January 30, 1950, the fourth of six children to the late Lawrence Walter and Helen Julia (Smith) Thompson in L.A, California. Scott served our nation in the Navy and fought in Vietnam. He met his wife Genevieve in June of 1971, and just a few weeks later they would be married on July 21, 1971. Scott worked at Ingalls Shipbuilding for forty-eight years, 1974 through 2022. Scott will be remembered for his wry, irreverent sense of humor, and a love for cooking, fishing, and his nation. He is preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Helen (Smith) Thompson, one brother Robert Thompson, and one sister Leslie Qöyawayma. Left to cherish Scott's memory are his wife Genevieve Thompson of Gulfport, Mississippi; one daughter Stephanie Thompson McDaniel of Colbert, Georgia, and one son Edward Scott Thompson II, of Pensacola, Florida; three grandchildren Robert, Luke, and Eve McDaniel; one brother Bruce Thompson; and sisters Jean Boltinhouse of Thousand Oaks, California, and Nancy Thompson of Rancho Palos Verdes, California. The family requests in lieu of flowers, gifts can be made in Scott’s memory to Prager University via their website www.prageru.com/donate. Services for Scott will be provided by the family at a later date.
