Edward Joseph Tanner Sr., fondly known as Ed, passed away peacefully at the age of 71 on April 7, 2025, in Necaise, MS. Born to Hillman and Josie Tanner in Macon, Georgia, on March 19, 1954, Ed's journey began as the loving heart of a vibrant family. Ed's early years were shaped by his education at Central High School, where he graduated with the class of 1972. He carried the spirit of determination and entrepreneurship throughout his life, which was evident when he owned and operated the beloved sandwich shop, Pockets, in his hometown. Ed would go on to work for Pilot, a role he cherished until his retirement. He is preceded in death by his parents and his eldest brother, Buddy Tanner. A family man through and through, Ed leaves behind his devoted wife of 37 years, Donna Sample Tanner; children Joe(Melinda), Kathy(Paul), Michael (Stacey), Matt (Sherry), and Kyle Tanner; his siblings Brenda (Matt) Walters, Pat Parks, Pam (Eddie) Kent, Stephen (Debra) Tanner, Raymond Tanner, Walter (Pam) Tanner, and Rich (Jill) Tanner; along with numerous grand and great-grandchildren. Those who knew Ed remember a man who found joy in the simple pleasures—his hands skillfully shaping wood into crafts, his garden and chicken coop a testament to his love for nature, and the thrill of go-kart racing with his son Kyle. His was a life lived with intention, embracing the moments that mattered most. Ed's legacy is not only in the love he left behind but also in the lives he touched with his warmth, humility, and enduring kindness. His spirit continues to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Tanner family in their time of need and we ask that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers through the days ahead.
