Dorothy Saito Wimberly

August 21, 1932 — December 10, 2019

Carriere, MS

Ms. Dorothy Fumiko Saito Wimberly, 87 of the Hideaway Lake community in Carriere, passed away at her home Tuesday morning. Dorothy, affectionately known to most as "Momma Dot", was born August 21, 1932 in Hawaii, the daughter of Saichiro Saito and Asayo Morinaka. She grew up a very active young lady, a "little rascal" so to speak, but was a big help to her grandmother with her brothers. She remained in Hawaii until a strapping young sailor named Tommy Wimberly swept her off her feet. They were married and made their home in Church Point, LA in the heart of cajun country. From there, they moved to Vinton, LA where she helped to train horses. Dorothy couldn't have been happier, as she was a true animal lover, quickly becoming known as the best stall cleaner around. She was also a "firecracker" as well, unafraid to tell you what was on her mind. In 2016, as the flood waters were rising around her home, she had to be evacuated (literally kicking and screaming against her will mind you) and sadly lost the home that she loved, living in Hideaway Lake with her daughter since. Dorothy is remembered as a "character" by all who truly knew her. She loved music, dancing, Coke-a-cola, hamburgers and bacon, fondly known as "the baconator". She loved dogs and going to Dollar Tree, but more than anything, she loved to laugh. A loving sister, mother and grandmother, Dorothy will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by all whose life she touched. She was preceded by her parents, her loving husband Tommy Wimberly, and her brother David Saito. Left to cherish her memories are: her daughters Shelia (Rick) Noote and Debbie James; five grandchildren: Joshua and Jesse Noote, Leann Nesbit, and Kristen and Kevin James; two great-grands, Carter and Kason Noote, with two more on the way; her brother Albert Saito, and numerous extended family, friends and neighbors through the years. Dorothy's wishes were to be cremated, which her family is honoring. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Dec. 14th, 2019 from 9:00 until 11:00 AM, at Crossfire Church in Slidell where she attended and came to know the Lord as her Savior. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Wimberly family in their time of need, and asks everyone to keep them lifted up in prayer during this trying time.
