Dorothy "Dot" Holder passed away at her home in Lumberton, Mississippi, on December 2, 2017, at the age of 70. Dot, as she was lovingly called, was born in Brooklyn, New York, on April 2, 1947, to Verdell and Mary Jackson, both from Brooklyn, New York. Dot lived in Brooklyn all her life until the she married her husband, Calvin Holder, on Saturday, March 20, 1999, at 4:00 pm in Brooklyn, New York. After marriage she moved with her husband to her present address in Lumberton, Mississippi. From the beginning of their marriage, Dot and Calvin became inseparable. They were always together, whether going to the store or to the shore. They had the great joy of being pioneer partners during the past 6 years. One of their favorite pastimes was listening to old music from the 50's and 60's. And Dot and Calvin loved to dance and play bid whist. However, Dot's favorite hobby was decorating her house, painting every room complete from floor to ceiling. She was a very industrious worker in the home. Yes, as Calvin worked outside the house, Dot worked inside the house to make it a comfortable home for the family, which included Calvin and her stepchildren Donnell and Brittny Holder. Dot had a very happy and satisfying life, both personally and spiritually. She was baptized in 1978 while attending the Delmonico Congregation in Brooklyn, New York. From that point forward, she spent her life fully dedicated to Jehovah God. During this time, she helped many individuals get to know Jehovah. She loved to talk to people about the Bible, and she explained Bible truths in a simple, dignified way, even to people that were not religiously inclined Dot was very conscious of her spiritual needs, always putting her full trust in her God. She treasured her personal relationship with Jehovah and her privilege of prayer. Dot was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Brown Jackson; her father, Verdell Jackson Sr; her brothers, Robert "Bobby" Jackson, and Verdell Jackson Jr; her daughter, Linda Jackson; her son, Alton Jackson; and her grandson, Montic Jackson. Survivors include her husband, Calvin Holder; her sisters, Valerie Jackson and Renee Jones; her daughters, Charlotte (Mike) Butler and Desiree (Darwin) Stevenson; her son, Robert (Dionne) Jackson; and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren
