Mr. Donnie Lamar Knighton

Mr. Donnie L. Knighton, 51 of Flint Creek Road in Wiggins, passed away early Friday morning, January 6, 2017, at Stone County Hospital. Donnie was born November 9, 1965 in Jackson, MS where he grew up, the youngest of 2 boys to Murray and Judy Knighton. His father was a commercial driver, and Donnie enjoyed going with his dad, eventually becoming a commercial driver himself. After he stopped his driving career, he worked as a painter. He will be remembered as a family man with a heart of gold; someone who took care of his wife and children. He so enjoyed watching NASCAR and COPS on television in his spare time. Donnie will be dearly missed by his loving wife and life partner of 34 years, Melissa Kay; his sons, Christopher M. Chisolm of Central MS, John Anthony Knighton and Robert Michael Knighton, both of Wiggins; his loving mother, Judy Faye Merritt (Owen Inabinett); and his brother, Ronny Knighton (Brandi), of Perkinston; one grandson, some nieces and nephews, along with many friends and aquaintances. He was preceded in death by his father, Murray Knighton. Donnie's wishes were to be cremated, which his family is honoring. A memorial service is set for 10:30 AM on Monday, January 9th, to be held at New Zion Church in Wiggins.
