Dianna Kay (Slater) Matroni

Dianna Kay Slater Matroni, age 70, passed away February 29, 2020 surrounded by her family. She was born February 3, 1950 in Kansas City, Kansas to Francis and Mildred (Eagles) Slater. She is preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Vincent Matroni. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her devoted daughter, Lisa (Shane) Lawrence; sons, Greg (Kat) Hofling and Nicholas (Trinity) Matroni; Grandchildren, Brittney (Jonathan), Kristin, Destiny, Eddie Jr., Kayla, Amanda, Samantha, Zachary, Alana, Nick Jr., and Haleigh; Great Grands, Serina, Michael, Saylor, Lily, Cambria, and Olivia,; sister, Jennie Burbage and brothers, Jack, Dan and Frank Slater along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Dianna was one tough lady! She left Sioux City, Iowa with two kids in tow to come to the MS Gulf Coast. She didn’t know what defeat meant. She made a career as an electrician at Ingalls Shipyard.  Dianna instilled in her children and those around her to always do your best and never give up. She loved to garden even though she was not good at it, she still enjoyed it!  Dianna may have lost her battle to illness, but it never defined her. She never let it take away from being a loving mother, grandmother and Fafa. Dianna was deeply loved and will forever remain in our hearts. The family wishes to invite everyone to a Celebration of Life on Thursday, March 5, 2020 at the Lawrence residence, 41 David W. Drive, Wiggins from 5 until.
