Diana Wright Barr, known affectionately as Diana to all who were graced by her vibrant presence, took her final bow on the grand stage of life on May 16, 2025 in Lumberton, MS. Born with the spirit of New Orleans jazz in her soul on September 19, 1941, in the very heart of the Big Easy, Diana's life was a symphony of laughter, color, and boundless creativity. Diana's journey was as colorful as her stained-glass creations, with a life that bloomed like the most exquisite bouquet from her own flower shop, Flowers ETC, which she helmed with passion and flair for 12 years. A florist by trade and an artist at heart, she painted the world with joy and sowed seeds of happiness wherever she went. Her education included some college, where she cultivated a business degree and a knack for turning every challenge into a masterpiece. Behind the scenes, Diana's family was her pride and joy. Her husband Mike was her leading man, sharing the spotlight with their ensemble cast of children: Willie Gomila, Scott Gomila, Gabrielle Yawn (in a stunning performance alongside her husband Buddy Yawn), Myles Barr, and Micheal Barr, who shared the stage with his co-star Nikki Barr. The plot thickened with the arrival of a troupe of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, including Jana Smith, George Hoffman, Codey Savala, Jennifer Creel, and Natalie Cartwright, among a long list of show-stealing performers. Diana's interests were as diverse as her talents. She painted life's canvas with broad strokes of adventure and sewed the fabric of her family with threads of love and care. Her garden was a testament to her ability to nurture and grow beauty from the earth, and her glass art reflected the light of her soul. Drawing from life's palette, she sketched memories that would forever hang in the galleries of her loved ones' hearts. Loving, adventurous, and creative are words that best describe Diana, but they barely scratch the surface of her indomitable spirit. She was a great inspiration to many, especially her family, who saw her not just as a great mother, but as a mentor, friend, and the ultimate life coach. Diana's legacy is not just in her art, but in the laughter she shared, the adventures she embarked on, and the lives she touched with her boundless energy and warmth. As we bid her adieu, we imagine Diana in a grand finale, taking her final curtain call to a standing ovation from an audience of stars. Her laughter echoes in the winds of Lumberton, and her artistry blooms in gardens of eternity. Diana Wright Barr may have left the stage, but her performance as a matriarch, artist, and friend will remain an encore in our hearts forever. So, let's not say farewell, but rather, "Until we meet again," for Diana's show will always go on in the stories we share, the gardens we tend, and the art we create. Her final wishes were to be cremated, which her loving family is honoring. A celebration of her life may be held at a later date. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Barr family in their time of need and asks everyone to keep them in your thoughts and prayers over the coming days.
