Dennis Franklin Scovel, 62 of Pascagoula, passed away surrounded by his family on Monday, Dec. 18th in Wiggins. Dennis was born May 26, 1955 in Pascagoula, the oldest of 4 children to Bennie and Sadie Scovel. He grew up in Pascagoula, and called it home his entire life. He developed a literal passion for anything involving a boat early on, including fishing, oystering, shrimping, and more. Later, he also enjoyed motorcycles and fast cars as hobbies. Dennis started his career as a driver for Jackson county with his father, later worked at the grain elevator for Lewis Dryfuss, and finally as a technician for the Jackson County Utility Authority. When he wasn't fishing, he loved to garden and was a creative person who could build most anything by hand. He was always helping his neighbors, supplying fresh vegetables and fixing things for them. He is remembered as a loving brother and uncle, a strong and ever independent man that was very gracious as well. Dennis will be sadly missed by all whose life he touched. He was preceded by his parents, Bennie Scovel & Sadie Thomas. Left to cherish his memories are his siblings: one sister, Sandi (Robert) Hicks of Savannah, TN, and two brothers, Harry (Carol) Scovel of Wiggins, and Glen Scovel of Ocean Springs, along with several nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors. Dennis was also a private person and wished to be cremated without fanfare or services, which his family is honoring. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Scovel family in their time of need, and asks that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
