Denise Johnel James

Denise Johnel James, 42 of Gulfport, left this physical life on May 27th. She was born August 7, 1978 in Gulfport and lived on the Mississippi Gulf Coast her entire life. She was a 1997 graduate of Harrison Central and received her Associate Degree from Perkinston Junior College. She is preceded in death by her loving grandparents, Odessa and Jerry Lamb and Jack E. James and Laura Ruth Neill James; great grandparents, Sam and Chellie Lee and Doug and Laura Neill. Denise leaves to cherish her memories, her parents, John and Carolyn James; her sister, Kellie Stockert; her brother-in-law, Jeffery Stockert; her pride and joy, her niece Amber Stockert; her aunts and uncles, Cindy Olivier, Gerald Olivier, Tommy and Johnathan James, Terrie Joe James, Barry and Perry Lofton; her cousins, Connor and Katie Olivier, Sarah and Carl Jackson, Lindsay, Matt, Gavin and Grayson Gomoll and Reuben and Thelma Jones along with extended family and friends. Denise possessed something amazing…a free spirit. The party was Denise. She brought happiness into every room she entered. Denise was a fun-loving jokester but there was more to her than that. She had a side of compassion and a giving heart that could not easily be matched. Her family was her everything and her pitbulls, Honey and Dixie were the icing on the cake. Denise was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all whom had the privileged of calling her their friend. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 1st at Trinity Funeral Services in McHenry at 1 pm. Funeral services to follow at 2 pm with Elder Jesse Ladner officiating and interment at Hickory Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, do something in honor of Denise; get your oil changed, call an old friend or make a donation to your charity of choice.
