Delores Ann (Thornton) Page

February 10, 1946 — February 13, 2022

Poplarville, MS

Delores Ann Page, 76, passed away February 13th at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg. She was born on February 10, 1946 in Bay St. Louis, the sixth of twelve children to Elmer and Edna (Crutchfield) Thornton. Delores grew up in the Bay area where she was always helping out around home and enjoyed sewing and going to church. She attended Bay St. Louis schools and married A.J. Page when she was 18 years old. They moved to Poplarville and called it home their entire lives. Delores worked at Movie Star for over 20 years, then spent about the same time with Real Deal and Cloze Closet, while A.J. worked and pastored Baptist churches all over. They were on the go most every weekend, and her daughters recall how they rarely, if ever, stopped to eat anywhere at a restaurant or some place like that. Delores would usually fry some chicken and have potato salad and other things to go with it, and they would stop somewhere along the way and eat together as a family. She is remembered as a loving wife and mother that set a Godly example for her daughters and others to follow. Affectionately known as "Mawmaw Dee" by those who knew her best, she was a devout Christian and lived out her testimony every day of her life. She loved her children, and her grandchildren even more, but she always said her great-grands were "just icing on the cake". Family was her hobby, and Mawmaw Dee did her best not to miss a single thing any of her kids and grands did. It didn't matter to her, as long as someone would come get her, she was right there for them. Now she did like to travel, especially to the mountains, and word has it that she went on at least 1 crusie in her life. She was a loving lady who will be sadly missed and never forgotten. Delores was preceded by her parents, Elmer and Edna Thornton, her loving husband A.J. Page, and nine of her siblings: sisters Ethel Page, Nora LaFontaine, and Patricia Green, with brothers George, Billy, David, James, Elmer, and Earl Thornton. Left to cherish her memories are: her three daughters: Naomi (Kenneth) Ladner, Lisa (Charles) Spiers, and Connie Pevey; one sister, Barbara Thornton, and one brother, Bruce Thornton. Delores leaves a legacy of nine grandchildren: Allen (Hilda) Seals, Cheston Seals, Monica Seals, Samantha (Preston) Love, Cortney (Alex) Helton, Cody Ladner, Jessica Walters, Katie Pevey, and Haley Pevey; sixteen great-grands: Britton, Cooper, Dallas, Gabby, Natalie, Paisley, Addison, Haven, Remington, Montana, Myleigh, Malloree, Brycen, Annistyn, Hope, and Landin, along with many more extended family, freinds, and neighbors through the years. Services will be held at her home church, Red Hill Missionary Baptist Church. Visitation will be Tuesday evening, Feb. 15th from 6:00 until 9:00 PM, and Wednesday morning, Feb. 16th at 10:00 AM, followed by the funeral service at 11:00. Pastor Jacob Smith will officiate, with Bros. Eddie Hartfield and Steve Smith assisting. After the service, Delores will be laid to rest beside her late husband in the Red Hill Cemetery. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Page family in their time of need, asking everyone to keep them in your thoughts and prayers over the coming days.
