Debra Ann Cape, 64 of Moss Point and a bright spot in the lives of so many, departed this life Friday, December 22, 2023 at Singing River Hospital in Pascagoula. She was born September 14, 1959 in Vicksburg, MS, the daughter of Orval and Evelyn (Worrell) Crist. Debra grew up in Warren County on the banks of the Yazoo River. She loved to fish and spend time outdoors, but also enjoyed spending time with her friends and siblings. They played, swam in the river, and enjoyed life in South MS. Debra attended school at Redwood and Warren Central, graduating in the late 70s. She went right to work for a trucking company in the office but had her eye on the trucks themselves. Debra eventually moved from behind a desk to behind the wheel, driving over the road for several years. She worked a few other jobs over the years as well, eventually deciding to return to school in 2017 to study Culinary Arts. Debra graduated in 2019 from Hinds Community College and went to work as a chef. She is remembered as a truly selfless person who was full of life. A loving and loyal sister, wife, mother, and friend who would do anything humanly possible to help her family. If you were fortunate enough to be considered her friend, then you were also part of her family as well. Fishing and cooking were her two main hobbies, and she also maintained her social connections along the way. Debra loved gatherings of family and friends where she was always the life of the party. If there wasn't anything interesting going on, you could count on Debra to get it started. That's just who she was, and she will be forever loved and missed by those whose life she touched. She was preceded by her parents, Orval and Evelyn Crist, and her brother John Crist. Left to cherish her memories are: her loving husband of the past 13 years, Darrell; her children: Deann (Charles) Hill and Sean Gentry, all of Vicksburg; her siblings: brothers Joe (Peggy), David (Tracy), Mike (Connie), and Tony (Jacuie) Crist, all of Vicksburg, with Jim Vickers of Moss Point, and her sisters: Sharon, Ginger, and Donna Marie (Bo) Hart, with her sister-in-law, Susan Crist. Debra leaves a legacy of two grandchildren, Chase and Macey, along with numerous extended family and a circle of friends that knew no boundaries. Her final wishes were a continuing testimony to the woman she was as a registered organ donor, followed by cremation, both of which her family honored. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Cape family in their time of need and asks that you remember them in your thoughts and prayers through the days ahead.
