Deborah Ann Lizana (McLaughlin) was born on October 8, 1960, in Plainwell, Michigan, to her loving parents Michael and Wanda (Lang) McLaughlin. She brought joy and warmth to the lives of those around her, leaving an indelible mark on everyone she encountered.
Deborah's kind and compassionate nature was evident throughout her life. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, embodying the true spirit of generosity. Her 34 wonderful years with her beloved husband and lifelong companion, Douglas Lizana, were filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Each morning, Doug would start their day by delivering a cup of coffee to Deborah, a small gesture that symbolized their deep connection and unwavering love.
Together, Deborah and Doug enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. They would often venture to the river, attending car shows like Cruisin' the Coast, and cheering on their favorite football teams. Deborah found solace in nature, spending countless hours barefoot in her garden, tending to her beloved flowers. She would sit by the pool, basking in the beauty of the world around her.
Deborah had a zest for life and a curious mind. She found joy in watching crime shows, finding inspiration in the pursuit of justice. Dr. Phil and Virgin River were among her favorite shows, providing comfort and entertainment. She had a competitive spirit and loved playing games, especially Scrabble and Cribbage. Deborah's love for Cribbage was so great that she even taught her step-daughter how to play, ensuring she always had a worthy opponent.
Her creativity and thoughtfulness extended beyond games. Deborah had a talent for making stunning flower arrangements, which she lovingly delivered to the family's burial sites. She found solace in honoring her loved ones and bringing beauty to their final resting places.
Deborah's love for animals was boundless. Dogs held a special place in her heart, and she treated them as though they were her own babies. Their unconditional love brought her immense joy and comfort throughout her life.
After the passing of her beloved husband, Deborah returned to Michigan to spend her "golden years" with her sister Barbara and to be close to her daughter Patricia and her precious grandchildren. It was a time of reconnection, love, and cherished moments.
Sadly, Deborah's time with us was cut short due to a battle with pneumonia. On May 28, 2024, she peacefully left this world to be with the Lord. Her passing leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew her, but her memory will forever be cherished.
Deborah was preceded in death by her father Michael McLaughlin, stepfather Lawson Stroud, niece Jennifer Vernier, brother Daniel McLaughlin, brother-in-law Ricky Cross, and her beloved husband Douglas Lizana. She is survived by her mother Wanda Stroud, sister Barbara Cross, brother Donald McLaughlin, daughter Patricia (Tony) Birman, step-daughters Beth (Edward) Ard and Theresa Bowen, nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Deborah's legacy is one of love, kindness, and compassion. She touched the lives of many, leaving behind a trail of beautiful memories and a profound impact on those fortunate enough to have known her. May her spirit continue to inspire us to live each day with love, generosity, and a zest for life.
