David Lee Shoemake, Jr., 27, passed away in a tragic accident November 04th, 2022. He was born June 16, 1995 in Hattiesburg, MS, a twin and one of three children to parents David Lee Shoemake, Sr. and Dorothy Eileen (Sullivan) Graves. Jr., as he came to be known, was the youngest, born three minutes after his sister Nancy, something she never let him forget. He grew up in Hattiesburg and enjoyed riding four-wheelers, fishing, and tearing stuff up. He called it "fixing", and eventually he got to where he could. Being a twin, Jr. spent lots of time with his sister. They were "partners in crime" as you might imagine, and were very close to each other. He attended Forrest county schools, and decided to go to work in the eleventh grade. David went to work farming, worked a bit for Ramey's, drove a wrecker for South Central Recovery for a few years, and most recently was building fences for J & B Fence. Jr. is remembered as one who truly never met a stranger. Everyone who ever met him liked him, and he would do anything for anyone, right down to the shirt off his back if needed. He had a vivid sense of humor and loved to make everyone laugh. In his spare time, Jr. loved comedy movies and spending time with his son and family. Family was his primary focus and Jr. was definitely their protector. He is remembered as a loving son and brother, always smiling and fun to be around. Jr. was the world to his mother, always there for her and others in the family. Leaving this life far too soon, he will sorely missed by all whose life he touched. Jr. was preceded in death by his infant brother, Franklin Blake Shoemake, and his stepfather, Wayne Graves. Left to cherish his memories are: his son Walker Lee Creel; his loving mother, Dorothy Graves, and his twin sister, whom he lovingly called "Twinkie", Nancy (Caleb) Caleb Garrett, and his father, David Shoemake, Sr., all of Hattiesburg; his uncle, David Hughes of Irondale, AL; an aunt, Louise Clark of Atlanta, GA; his nieces and nephews: Abbey Bedwell, Bubba Garrett, Zoe Hughes, Aubree Garrett, and Braylynn Garrett, along with numerous extended family, and more friends than anyone could ask for. Services will be held at Central Missionary Baptist Church in Purvis, with visitation on Wednesday evening, November 9th from 5:30 until 9:00 PM, and again Thursday morning at 10:00 AM. The funeral service is set 11:00 AM, with Pastor Harlan Davis officiating. Following the service, Jr. will be laid to rest in the family cemetery off WPA Road. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Shoemake family in their time of need, and asks that you remember them in your thoughts and prayers over the coming days.
