Mr. David Fountain Shivers

David F. Shivers, 62 of Gulfport, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 24th. He loved southern gospel music, enjoyed playing the piano & guitar with church family and friends, and encouraged young people to play music for the Lord. With his Dad, he learned carpentry as a trade at a young age. He was a truck driver and made many friends delivering freight in the gulf coast area. He loved to cook and spend time with family and friends. David and his wife enjoyed bird watching, and he loved & enjoyed their 6 family pets, Sadie, Precious, Little Bit, Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch & Lily. David loved to sing in church, and the last song he sang was Remind Me Dear Lord. His favorite to listen to was Something Within. He was proceeded by his parents, Fountain & Christine Shivers; two brothers, F. L. Shivers and Rev. Vernon Shivers; and one son, David Shivers, Jr. He is survived by his loving wife of 9 years, Marie Shivers of Gulfport; one son, Jimmie Dale Shivers (Kandi) of Agricola; four children by marriage: Lynn Wright, Kelly Henderson, Mickey Varnado & Carrie Turner; Six grandchildren, Justice & Tanner Shivers, Kyle Keys, Dustin Davis, Ayden & Karleigh Shivers; eight grandchildren & five great grandchildren by marriage; one sister, Betty Ann Rushing, beloved nieces and nephews and numerous other relatives and friends. Visitation will be from noon until 2:00 pm on Saturday, June 30th, followed by a chapel service at Trinity Funeral Services in McHenry. Interment will follow at Three Rivers Free Church of God Cemetery in Gulfport. Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
