David Wayne Mathews

David Wayne Mathews, 57, of Perkinston, MS., passed away peacefully, in the comfort of his home on Monday, November 11, 2024. David was born one of five children on August 7, 1967, in Port Hueneme, California to his parents Edward and Nancy (Yost) Mathews. David was a military brat, growing up all over the United States before his family settled in South Mississippi, a place he fell in love with and made home. David had a love for the water and boats, leading him to proudly serve in the U.S. Navy where he worked on many different ships. Once his time in the military was done, David continued working as a Long Shoreman on Tugboats. David was a loving and kind man who loved his family fiercely and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. David is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Nancy Mathews; one brother, James Mathews; and one sister, Michelle "Bee" Mathews. Left to cherish his memory, two sisters; Yvonne Mathews Baldwin and Kathy Mathews; one daughter, Tobie Alesich; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. David's wishes were to be cremated, which his family is honoring.
