Pass Christian

Darris Joseph Dubuisson, Jr., 71 of Pass Christian, passed away peacefully May 11, 2024. He was born December 07, 1952 at the family home in Pass Christian, one of four children to Darris Joseph and Mabel Mae (Ladner) Dubuisson. He grew up in the Dubuisson community of Harrison county where he enjoyed literally anything to do with the water...except fishing. Swimming, boating, camping out and whatever else came with it, he was all about it. Known as DJ to those who knew him best, he loved the outdoors and was very athletic as well. He enjoyed playing baseball, softball, camping, and just having fun in general. He attended Pass Christian schools and had aspirations of being a State Trooper. When that didn't pan out like he wanted, DJ went to work as a longshoreman at the Port of Gulfport, plus decided to open a couple of businesses, Adventure Canoeing and D & D Well Service. As you can see, DJ was a working man that had no idle time on his hands. Hard work was not something he backed away from, providing for his family for many years. He is lovingly remembered as just a "one of a kind" guy. He both loved life, and lived it to the fullest along the way. DJ worked hard, but he played hard as well. He loved his family, especially his grandkids, but he also loved kids in general. DJ was active in the community, serving on the Parish Council, coaching Little League baseball and softball teams, and serving as a Boy Scout leader through the years. As busy as he was, DJ was always there for his family. His heart was as big as they come, doing well work and more for many people over the years and never charging them for it. That's the man he was, and for all that and more, he will be forever loved and missed by all whose life he touched. DJ was preceded by his parents, Darris, Sr. and Mabel Dubuisson, his brother Levere Dubuisson, his sister Julia Cuevas, and a great-niece, Lashae Necaise. Left to cherish his many fond memories are: his only daughter, Dedra Cuevas, and her mother Sandra Dubuisson; and his remaining sister, Daisy (Billy) Morgan, all of Pass Christian. DJ leaves a legacy of three grandchildren who knew him as "the best Pawpaw ever": Darrian, Daydria, and Dristalyn Cuevas, along with numerous extended family and countless friends through the years. DJ's final wishes were to be cremated, which his family is honoring. Services will be held at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church on Friday, May 17th. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, followed by the funeral mass at 2:00 PM with Father Patty officiating. The family will lay DJ to rest in Rotten Bayou Cemetery with a private ceremony at a later date. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Dubisson family in their time of need and asks that you remember them in your thoughts and prayers through the days ahead.
