Darrell Lee "Thomas" Stivers, known to most as "Pops", age 65, departed this life on January 16, 2022, surrounded by his family. He was born into a coal miner's family on October 27, 1956 in Logan, West Virginia. He fought a hard and lengthy battle with cancer, doing so with dignity and unmatched bravery. Darrell was a strong and charismatic man who loved his family dearly. Everyone that truly knew him sought his fervent wisdom, time, and his ability to always make you laugh. He was an honest, hardworking man who will be missed by all. Darrell was preceded by his parents, Ruth Bumgarner and Crit Stivers; two sisters, Brenda Brooks and Sherry Stone, and his son, Christopher Atkins. He is survived by his wife Elisa Johnson Stivers, daughters Michelle Stokely (Jesse Stokely Jr.) and Jennifer Armas (Steve Armas), and one son, Derrick Stivers (Marleidy Aspiro); his grandchildren, Sheyna Garcia, Avrielle Grimmett, Kamden Grimmett, Malikai Stivers, as well as a great grandson Kieran Ray, many uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Darrell's final wishes were to be cremated, which his family is honoring. A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 22nd at Trinity's McHenry location. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 PM, followed by a chapel service at 2.
