Cricket Peterman, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and cherished member of the Harrison County community, passed peacefully on June 16, 2026, in McHenry, Mississippi, surrounded by those who loved him most. Born on June 22, 1960, in Gulfport, Mississippi, Cricket was a simple man, a true country boy with an infectious good mood that brightened the lives of everyone around him.
For more than 27 years, Cricket dedicated himself to the Harrison County Road Department, where his hardworking spirit and unwavering commitment earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and neighbors alike. He took great pride in the family he raised and provided for, and nothing filled his heart more than the joy of cherishing all 21 of his grandchildren.
Cricket’s life was marked by simple pleasures that echoed the warmth of his character. He loved traveling, often taking frequent trips along the Natchez Trace, a place that held a special spot in his heart. At home, he enjoyed the company of his wiener dogs and had a fondness for the comfort found in naps and a hearty plate of beans. Yet, it was the time spent with his grandkids that brought him the most happiness and created long lasting memories for all who witnessed his tender devotion.
His personality was as genuine as the Mississippi soil he called home—he was a man of modesty, kindness, and an enduring positive spirit. A simple life lived well, through love, laughter, and family bonds that extended far beyond his immediate circle to nieces, nephews, and countless extended family members.
Cricket is survived by his loving wife, Debby Peterman; his devoted children, Jimmy Peterman and his wife Melissa, Mary Lock and her husband Chris, and David Stratton and his wife Amber; his sister Annette Biksey; his brother Pat H. Peterman Jr; and a host of grandchildren and other family members who will carry forward his legacy of love and strength.
He joins his parents, Frances and Pat Peterman, and brothers Yogi Coleman, Johnny Coleman, and Eddie Discisio who have all gone before him, leaving behind a family forever grateful for his life and spirit.
A memorial service will be held on June 19, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at 319 US 49, McHenry, MS 39561. It will be a sacred time to honor Cricket’s memory, share stories, and celebrate the beautiful imprint he left on all who knew him.
Cricket Peterman’s life was a testament to a quiet strength and simple joys. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for his generous heart, steadfast love for his family, and the peaceful spirit that defined a truly good man.
