Claude Eugene Reaves, Jr

November 12, 1954 — December 4, 2022

Gulfport, MS

Mr. Claude Eugene Reaves, Jr. of Gulfport, MS passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family in the comfort of his home, December 4, 2022. Claude was born November 12, 1954, to Claude, Sr. and Daisy (Shurrum) Reaves in Ocala, Florida. Claude proudly retired from the United States Air Force as a SMSgt here in South Mississippi at Keesler Air Force Base in 2003. Following retirement, Claude continued working as a civilian for the Air Force as an instructor for thirteen years. Claude loved the outdoors! From the mountains in Colorado to the pine trees in Mississippi, he loved just being in the presence of nature. Claude enjoyed hunting, but rather used it as a good excuse to "just be in the woods" because actually killing something was not his strong suit. He was an easy-going, laid-back guy. A morning piddler who took his time and made sure to get his Pepsi down before hitting the woods. One of the two kills he did have, was in the later part of the morning when he stumbled onto an eight-point buck, as luck would have it. Claude wasn't much for traditions society put in place but one he did participate in, was being there for his kids. He was a field trip going, girl scout leading, man of integrity! Saturday mornings were for PBS and the Justin Wilson cooking show, of which he owned every cookbook and was familiar with each recipe. Claude loved "his circle" and his wife, children, and grandchildren will miss him immensely as they cling to the memories made with such a wonderful man. Preceding Claude in death; his parents Claude Eugene, Sr. and Daisy (Shurrum) Reaves and his brother-in-law Tom Drage. Left to cherish his memory; his loving wife of forty-four years, Cynthia (Jones) Reaves; two daughters, Jennifer (Trey) Fox of Gulfport and Lisa (Stephen) Beckett of Pikeville, NC; three grand-daughters Olivia, Fiona, and Hazel Fox of Gulfport; one grand-son Brodie Jack Fox of Gulfport; one sister JoAnne Drage of Ocala, FL; and his favorite cousin Doris (Tommy) Parker of Sycamore, FL.
