Clarence Joseph “C.J.” Cameron, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2025, at the age of 86. A proud lifelong resident of Hancock County, Mississippi. Born on December 30, 1938. C.J. dedicated his life to protecting the land and people of Mississippi. He proudly served his country by enlisting in the military in 1958 and went on to build a distinguished career as a MS State Game Warden. C.J. took his role seriously, spending countless hours hidden in the woods and swamps to uphold the law and preserve the region’s natural beauty. His tireless commitment to justice and conservation earned him the respect and admiration of all who knew him. C.J. was a man of many passions. He had a particular love for racing horses and was known for four family-owned horses —Jack the Ripper, 440 Moon, Almost Identical, and the beloved Shoe Shoe Baby, who became a local legend in her own right. He also cherished quiet moments fishing with his grandsons, sharing stories, wisdom, and laughter that will never be forgotten. Outside of law enforcement he left a lasting mark on his community as one of the many founders of the Kiln Jaycees baseball league. For many years he coached his son’s baseball teams, and many other youths who still to this day call him coach. Through this organization, he helped shape the lives of many local youth, giving them not only a place to play, but a sense of belonging and purpose. C.J. was a hard worker in every sense; driven by a sense of duty, love for his family, and pride in his community. He leaves behind a legacy that will live on in the hearts he touched. He is preceded in death by his parents Ramsey and Evelyn Cameron; his sisters June Swilley and Berta Faye Necaise, and brother in law Willie Necaise; and his brother Ramsey Cameron, Jr. C.J. is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years, Barbara Cameron; his son Timothy (Donna) Cameron; his daughter Belinda (Kenneth) Morgan; his grandchildren Josh (Katelin) Cameron, Jonathan (Amber) Cameron; Jordan Morgan, Joley Cameron, and his great-grandchildren Trenton, Jaycee, Jayston, and Jaylee. his Brother W.J.
