Clara Ann Loper, 68, passed away on February 14, 2024 at her home in Wiggins, surrounded by loving family. She was born on May 27, 1955 in Washington state, the daughter of the late Kenneth Clark and Willa Geane Blackwell. Clara grew up in the Northwest for the first 15 or so years, where she enjoyed the outdoors and farm animals. Her mother moved them to South MS in the early 70s, and she has lived here since. Clara married Eli when she was 18 and they made their home in Big Level. She maintained their home and raised six children along the way. Clara enjoyed visiting with her sister-in-law Liz, drinking coffee and going yard sale-ing all over. If there was a yard sale anywhere within driving distance, her and Liz were usually going to hit it. Clara had a huge heart and loved taking care of others. She loved animals as well, and enjoyed caring for any of them that were in need too. She collected snow globes and Happy Meal toys and trinkets from McDonalds. Collecting became a hobby of hers, and anything a grand baby wanted, the grand baby got from her. A loving wife, mother, and spoiling grandmother, Clara will be forever loved and missed by all those who knew and loved her, and yard sales far and wide. She was preceded by her parents, Willa Blackwell and Kenneth Clark, and her brother Dan Clark. Left to cherish her memories are: her loving husband of over 50 years, Eli Loper, Sr.; their children: Jennifer (Selwyn) James and Christopher Loper, both of Huntsville, AL, Adam (Sandy) Loper of New Augusta, Eli Loper, Jr. of Big Level, Gage Loper of Lumberton, and Chris (Tara) Loper of McHenry; her siblings: Becky Pennington, Jenny Rhoades, Bernice Hilton, Donnie (Audrey) Loper, and Peggy (Joe) Vasco. Clara leaves a legacy of thirteen grandchildren: Emily, Shelby, Taelour, Kathleen, Rainey, Tyler, Toree, Adrian, Nate, Kellen, Jessica, Karlie, and August, with eight great-grands plus one on the way, and numerous extended family and friends. Services are set for Saturday, February 17th at Bethel Baptist Church where Clara was a long-time member. Visitation begins at 6:00 PM, followed by the funeral service at 8:00 PM with Pastor Freddie Wegner officiating. Clara's final wishes were to be cremated, which her family is honoring. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Loper family in their time of need and asks that you remember them in your thoughts and prayers through the days ahead.
