Cheryl Darlene Northrop

June 3, 1957 — April 18, 2025

Saucier

Our beloved Mama and MawMaw left her earthly home and entered into eternity with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on April 18, 2025, leaving a legacy of love, laughter, and warmth for her cherished children and grandchildren, and all whose lives she touched. Darlene was born on June 3, 1957 to Kermit Joseph Ladner and Shirley Ann Cuevas Ladner. She was raised in the Lizana community and attended Harrison Central High School, Class of 1975. Darlene made many forever friendships while employed at Grand Casino, and later at The Eye Clinic in Gulfport. She moved to D'Iberville, MS where she and her husband, Pete, and her family spent many memorable days at their river house, hosting crawfish boils, listening to swamp pop music, taking boat rides with her family and friends, and watching the crocodiles and her kids swim in the Tchoutacabouffa River. Darlene was a dedicated mother and homemaker whose greatest pride and joy were her children and grandchildren, Nothing made her happier than being with them. The essence of her love for them will live forever in their hearts. Darlene is preceded in death by her parents, Kermit and Shirley Ladner; her sister, Peggy Jean Ladner Berndt, her husband, Pete Guidry, her brother-in-law, Jim Rose, and her furbabies, Hickman and JoJo, who passed away on the same day. She is survived by her sister, Belinda Rose; her brother, Robin Ladner; her children, Brian Northrop (Brandi); Missy Northrop Catoe (Glenn); Kristen Northrop (Jimmy); grandchildren: Austin Northrop (Brittany); Alyssa King; Erik Henson; Aaron Henson; Breanna Williams; Gracen Williams; Hayes McClendon; Carley Catoe, Zoie and Jaden Emile; Hunter and Dylan Ratcliff, and Emma Ladner; great granddaughter, Baylor and numerous nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her best friend and the "Louise to her Thelma", Christy (Charles) Lizana, for whom Darlene's family owes a huge debt of gratitude for her love and dedication to Darlene. Christy made sure Darlene was dressed to the 9's, had an endless supply of shoes and clothes, had her regular mani-pedis, and her hair and makeup impeccably done, all while enduring the relentless onslaught of chemo. Darlene fulfilled her roles in the lives of her relatives and friends with grace, dignity, and unwavering love. We know that she is now free from her pain and ran into the open arms of her mama when she arrived at heaven's door. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to c4acnonprofit.com in her honor to help others dealing with cancer.
