Chelsea Renae Barnes, 31, passed away on February 9, 2024, in Poplarville, MS. Born on October 12, 1992, in Gulfport, MS, to Rufus and Melissa Barnes. A proud graduate of Poplarville High School, Chelsea's musical talents shone brightly as a member of the band, where she mastered the clarinet. Her passion for music continued at Pearl River Community College, performing in a memorable march at President Obama's Inauguration. Beyond her musical endeavors, she dedicated herself to the field of home health care. Her natural nurturing ways made her a cherished caregiver, and the families she served held her in the highest regard, often considering her part of their own. Her zest for life was evident in her larger-than-life personality. She never met a stranger, approaching each new acquaintance with the same warmth and openness that she extended to her closest friends. Her adventurous spirit was a driving force in her life, leading her to explore new places, savor the experience of trying new restaurants, and seek out the thrill of discovery on the open road. Whether she was dancing to her favorite tunes, getting lost in a movie, or cooking up her favorite pasta dishes, Chelsea did so with a joy that was contagious. She was as creative as they come, she had the ability to find ingenious solutions to everyday problems. Those hands were never too pristine to dig into a project or to offer help; her generosity was as natural to her as breathing. As the first grandbaby in her family, she was adored and doted upon, a fact that only amplified her ability to love and care for others. Chelsea's role as a mother was her #1 joy in life. She enjoyed taking her son to the park and embarking on spontaneous adventures with him. Her love for her child was a clear reflection of her own upbringing—filled with love, laughter, and the freedom to embrace life's wonders. She was the person who would give you the shirt off her back without a second thought, whose hugs and massages could soothe even the weariest of souls, and the brightest smile to make your cloudy day shine bright again. Chelsea is preceded by her maternal grandparents, Judy and Hayward Ladner Sr., paternal grandparents, Maggie and Edward Barnes Sr., aunts and uncles, Retha Mae McCullom, Edward Barnes Jr., Charlie Barnes, Johnny Barnes, and Michael Barnes.
