Charles Edward Schoniwitz

August 22, 1938 — May 27, 2024

Saucier

Charles Edward Schoniwitz, 85, passed away on May 27, 2024 at Memorial Hospital in Gulfport. He was born on August 22, 1938 at the family home in Saucier, one of five children to Charles Robert and Lucille (Bond) Schoniwitz. Charles, or "Pinky" as a lot of folks came to know him, grew up in Saucier where he enjoyed the outdoors. Fishing, swimming, camping, and playing with his siblings were among his favorite things growing up. He attended Saucier Elementary and Harrison County schools before going to work for the MS Forestry Commission. He decided to join the US Army and served honorably for three years before his discharge. Charles and Linda met in 1962, were married in 1964 and had spent their lives together, living in a few different places in South MS. He preferred the country while Linda preferred being closer to, or actually in the city...so they've moved a few times over the years. Charles was a hard-working provider for his family, spending several years with the Forestry Commission and both Harrison and Hancock counties. He also worked at Dees Tire Company recapping tires, did security for Reichold Chemical and Fun Time USA, plus whatever else he needed to do to provide for his family. Charles also spent many years with the Lizana Volunteer Fire Department, responding to countless calls over the years. His family was his priority in life, and he demonstrated that to them every day. When he wasn't working, Charles enjoyed relaxing at home watching western movies and shows on tv. He enjoyed taking Linda out to eat and the occasional trip to the casinos for fun. Charles is lovingly remembered as a hard-working, loyal family man that was always there for them, no matter what. Their daughter was his life, and Charles never missed anything she was involved in, or his granddaughter either. He will be forever loved and missed by his family, and all whose life he touched. He was preceded his parents, Charles Robert and Lucille Schoniwitz, his brother Clyde Schoniwitz and stillborn infant boy & girl. Left to cherish his memories are: his loving wife and soulmate of over 60 years, Linda; their only daughter Ann DeMarco (Timothy Preston) of St. Bernard, LA; his granddaughter Samantha (Jonathan) Keaton of Wiggins; his sister Doris Ouellette of Saucier, and brothers Billy Schoniwitz of Saucier and Cecil Schoniwitz of Washington, DC. Charles also leaves numerous extended family members, friends, and co-workers over the years. Charles' final wishes were to be cremated, which his family is honoring. He will be laid to rest with military honors in Biloxi National Cemetery at a later date. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Schoniwitz family in their time of need and asks that you remember them in your thoughts and prayers through the days ahead.
