Charles Larry Penton Jr., 52, passed away on May 21, 2024, in Carriere, Mississippi. Born on December 4, 1971, in Picayune, Mississippi to Charles and Patricia Penton, Sr. Growing up in Carriere, with some of his childhood spent in Atlanta, Georgia, he developed a deep appreciation for the great outdoors. An avid deer hunter and fisherman, he lived by the rule that he would clean what he caught, and his beloved wife would cook it. His hands were rarely still; he was always found working on vehicles or tinkering with anything that needed fixing. His relentless energy and determination were even more admirable considering the health challenges he faced, which he met with resilience, never allowing them to diminish his passion for life. Charles's role as "Pawpaw" was one he embraced with all his heart. He adored his grandchildren and took his responsibilities in their lives very seriously. He could often be found in the stands at softball games, cheering on his granddaughters with pride and enthusiasm. These moments were among his favorites. He cherished every moment spent with family, whether it was a large family gathering or a quiet evening at home. His ability to crack jokes and elicit smiles was unmatched, and he had a knack for lightening the mood and bringing a sense of happiness to those around him. Charles's playful spirit and his desire to get a rise out of someone—always with the intention of spreading cheer—will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. He is preceded by his father, Charles Larry Penton, Sr. Left to cherish every memory, his wife, Tracy Penton; children, Trever Penton, Whitney (Forrest) Spiers, and Brittany (Seth) Spiers; mother, Patricia Penton; siblings, Denise Penton and Stephanie Penton; grandchildren, Harmony, Jaycee, Max, Halina, Callie, Iris, Konen, Kallen, Silas, and one sweet baby one the way; nieces, Emily, Lindsey, Jennifer, And Rhiannon Penton; nephews, Charles Colby, Patrick, and Leslie Thompson; and the mother of his children, Rachelle Skipper.
