Obituary

Charles Edward Dunhurst, 90, of Carriere, Mississippi, began his eternal rest on October 9, 2026, surrounded by those who loved him, at Whispering Pines Assisted Living in Picayune.  Charles was born on November 21, 1935, to his parents, William Stanley and Henrietta (Coleman) Dunhurst, on November 21, 1935 in McNeill, MS.   Charles, or "Dude" as he was lovingly known by everyone, could and did, do it all.   He started several successful businesses throughout his life, but would retire from the City of Picayune as the Building Inspector.  Dude was a faithful member of Central Baptist Church in McNeill, where he answered the call and served faithfully as Deacon.  Dude joined the Army in 1960 and served for two years as a Paratrooper.  He would meet and marry the love of his life, Nancy Frazier, whom he spent sixty-five years with, and together they raised their two sons, Ray and Bob.  Dude loved life and he loved his family.  He will be immensely missed by all who knew and loved him.  Dude was preceded in death by his parents, WS and Henrietta Dunhurst; his brothers, Cleo and Leon Dunhurst; his sister, Jo Ann Dyess; and his half-brother, Alonzo Dunhurst.  Left to cherish his memory are his beautiful bride, Nancy Dunhurst; his two sons, Ray (Gwen) Dunhurst and Bob (Gwen) Dunhurst; and three grandchildren, Jarret, Hayden, and Emma Dunhurst.  A graveside service for Dude will be held Wednesday, October 14, 2026, beginning at 11:00 AM at West Union Baptist Church Cemetery.  Brother Kyle Jones from Central Baptist Church will be officiating.  The Dunhurst family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Arden Hospice and Dude's wonderful nurse, Jol Parker; Whispering Pines Assisted Living, Michael Johnson, Janie Meyers, and the rest of the staff for their exceptional care; and Central Baptist Church family for their continued support and prayers over their family.  The family asks that in lieu of flowers, friends and family are encouraged to make a donation in Dude's honor to Whispering Pines Assisted Living in Picayune, so they can further their mission in caring for others.  Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Dunhurst family during this time, and we ask that you keep Ms. Nancy and their family in your thoughts and prayers over the days and weeks ahead.
