Charles Dickens, 40 of McHenry, MS, went into the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, November 8, 2016, in New Orleans, LA. Charles was born August 20, 1976 in Gulfport, one of 4 children to David and Beverly Dickens. He grew up in the McHenry area, and as most young boys do, enjoyed the outdoors and sports, especially football. He played football while at Stone High School, graduating in the class of 1994. Most of his working life was spent as an arborist in the tree and brush cutting business, working with Asplundh and others. Charles is survived by the delight of his life, his four children: one daughter, McKensie, and 3 sons, Brandon, Jackson, and Andrew Dickens; his mother and stepfather, Billy and Beverly McNew; his grandfather Raymond Warden; two brothers, Archie Dickens (Dixie) and Matt Dickens (Lisa); one sister, Elieen Williams (Matt); two step-brothers, Justin McNew and Jamie McNew (Chasity), plus many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, along with a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his father, David Dickens; his paternal grandparents, William & Mildred Dickens; and his maternal grandmother, Annie Merle Warden. Funeral services will be held Saturday morning, November 12th, at Saucier Landmark Missionary Baptist Church, where Charles was a member and born again Christian. The family will receive friends beginning at 11 AM, with the funeral service to follow at noon. Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery.
