Cephus Harris Jackson

September 12, 1952 — April 29, 2024

Prentiss

"He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away." Revelation 21:4

Cephus "Fuzzy" Jackson, 71, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2024, in Hattiesburg, MS. Born on September 12, 1952, in Prentiss, MS to the late Cephus and Lilly Mae Jackson. Fuzzy was a straight shooter known for his no-nonsense demeanor and his ability to say what he meant and mean what he said. Fuzzy's early interests were not widely known, but as an adult, he developed a passion for working on cars, riding bikes, and yard work. As a bold man he may have chased a woman or two back in the day, but who could resist such character. His love for the blues resonated through his life, providing a soundtrack to many of his days. While the blues rang true in the background he would cook to his heart’s content, he enjoyed making meals to share with those he loved. His life was marked by his resilience in the face of adversity. The ability to demonstrate love, even during the most challenging times, left a lasting impression on all who knew him. The warmth of his embrace and the reassuring pat on the back were cherished moments, especially in the last days of his life. His practical teachings, such as how to build a shed properly, were coupled with memorable arguments with coworkers and the joyous occasion of buying his horse, Peaches. Those who had the privilege of being dropped off or picked up from school by Fuzzy will never forget the sense of security and love he provided. His caring but bold personality made him a wonderful and unique individual. He had a giving heart, yet he was known for his stubborn and ornery nature. While not one to be caught smiling without cause, his chuckle was a treasure to those who heard it. Fuzzy was selective in his friendships, choosing to surround himself with a few close associates rather than a multitude of acquaintances. This led him to have a small group of friends, but the loyalty was strong. As a father, Fuzzy was stern and intentional, guiding his children with clear direction. His life was a vivid portrait of a man who embraced his interests, stood firm in his beliefs, and loved deeply, he will be truly missed by all who knew him. Cephus is preceded by his parents, Mr. Cephus Jackson and Mrs. Lillie Mae Hathorn-Jackson; sisters, Ms. Evelyn C.
