Carolyn Jean (Ladner) Peterson, 78, of Poplarville, MS., entered her eternal rest, August 19, 2024, in Wiggins, MS. Carolyn was born July 15, 1946, in Gulfport, MS to her parents Clifton and Virginia (Triplett) Ladner. A true southern lady, Carolyn loved shopping, decorating for Christmas, her nails had to be painted, and her earrings had to be big and full of sparkle. There was not a Black Friday sale missed nor was there a Tuesday senior citizen discount at Dirt Cheap passed up, when it came to shopping for Carolyn. Her days were full of tending to her flowers, reading books, most any board or card game, and puzzles; that is, when she wasn't cooking and tending to her family home. She was a fixer of anything that needed a button stitched, hole patched, or hem let out. Traveling was always something she looked forward to doing with her family, from short trips to extended vacations, time together was her greatest love. Carolyn made sure all of her kids and grandkids knew not only how to play, but how to win a game of Chinese checkers, this easily becoming a family tradition. Carolyn was known for starting off the New Year with a homemade pot of Seafood Gumbo that was sure to easily feed 100 people or more! Aside from the girly things, Carolyn enjoyed being outdoors at their family fishing camp, where she loved to fish and spend evenings under the oak tree enjoying her family. Carolyn loved her babies and kids, and it was well known that Nana's door was always open and ready with a lot of love and food to make any day or busy week all better. She showed her family the true meaning of love and care through every hug and meal she prepared for her them. Carolyn took pride in being a Wife, Mom, Nana, Aunt, and Sister, and each person she loved through the many roles she played in their lives, will miss her immensely. Carolyn is preceded in death by her husband, James R. Peterson; her daughter, Kimberly Peterson Ladner; and her parents, Clifton and Virgina (Triplett) Ladner. Left to cherish her love, her son, Clint (Stachia) Peterson of Poplarville, MS; her son-in-law, Brad Ladner of Poplarville, MS; her grandchildren, Braden (Jordyn) Ladner, Alysha Ladner, Janna Peterson, Dylan Peterson, and Anna Kate Peterson; her great-grandchildren, Tripp Ladner, Livy Jean Ladner, and Luna Ladner; her siblings, Kathleen Mills, Wayne (Rita) Ladner, Vonnie (Ernest "Sonny Boy") Ladner, Clifton "Boy" Ladner, Nancy Saucier, Cathy (David) Hammett, and Randy Ladner. Carolyn leaves a legacy of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends whom she loved very much. Services for Carolyn will be held Thursday, August 22, 2024, beginning at 10:30 a.m. for visitation, followed by a Funeral Service at 11:30, and lunch directly after, at Steep Hollow Baptist Church in Poplarville. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Peterson family and would ask that you remember each of them in your thoughts and prayers over the coming days.
