Ms. Carol Swetman, 70 of Wiggins, passed away Sunday morning at Azalea Gardens in Wiggins. Carol was born May 23, 1948 in Gulfport, the youngest of 7 children to Thomas and Ardell (Holliman) Helton. She grew up in Gulfport, and was country girl from the start. Her family had some animals which she enjoyed, including horses, pigs, and others. Carol enjoyed hunting for bargains, and could frequently be found at garage sales and flea markets. One of her favorite stops was Dirt Cheap, where she could spend quite a while. She also enjoyed stopping by the casino to relax and have a meal. Carol was an easy going lady who kept to herself mostly. Free-spirited and opinionated in her own way, she would always speak her mind. She is remembered as a loving, tender-hearted mother and grandmother, who was protective of those closest to her. Her beautiful smile will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded by her parents, Thomas & Ardell Helton; her sister, Martha Johns, and her brother, Roger Helton. Left to cherish her memories are: her only son, Chris Garner (Stephanie Higgs) of Wiggins; her siblings: sisters Betty Roberts, Mary (Johnny) Harmon, and Margie Twine, and her brother, Rudy (Joyce) Helton; two grandchildren, Aprie (Anthony) Dilorenzo and Cody Garner; her canine kids, Bandit and Smokey, along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Carol's final wishes were to be cremated without any services, which her family is following. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to assist the family in their time of need, and asks everyone to keep them in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
