Carmen Gloria Rodriguez

Carmen Gloria Rodriguez, 85, of Gulfport, MS., passed away on February 8, 2026, in the comfort of her home, with her family. Carmen was born on February 1, 1941 in Corozal, Puerto Rico, to her parents Agapito and Carmen Moreno. Carmen grew up in Puerto Rico, the baby of eight children, before marrying and moving to New York at the age of twenty-five. She spent fifty-four years in New York, where she worked as an Assistant Teacher for McCloskey Day Care Center in the Bronx for twenty-five years before retiring. Carmen loved children, and she poured countless hours into her students. She lived a life of selflessness and devotion to her husband and daughter, Yilda, whom Carmen sacrificed everything for daily. After fifty-four years in New York, Carmen and Jose would move to South Mississippi, where they would continue to selflessly love and guide their family together until his passing in 2022. Carmen loved her family and took on several roles when it came to encouraging and uplifting those around her. She was so proud of her daughter Yilda, and she showed that everyday by the love and support she gave. Carmen was her families lighthouse, one that will continue to shine and guide them home. Carmen is preceded in death by her husband, Jose Rodriguez; her parents, Agapito and Carmen Moreno; and all seven siblings. She is survived by her only daughter, Yilda Rodriguez. Carmen leaves a legacy of numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends, whom she loved very much. Services for Carmen will be held Wednesday, February 11, 2026, beginning at 10:00 am for Visitation and 11:00 am for a Funeral Service, led by Pastor Israel Cox. Carmen will be laid to rest next to her husband at Finley Cemetery in Gulfport.
