Carl Ladner, a beloved brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather, passed peacefully into the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. While he carried many titles throughout his life, the one he cherished most was simply “Pawpaw.”

Carl shared 65 beautiful years of marriage with the love of his life, Gaynell Ladner. Together they built a family rooted in love, laughter, and unwavering devotion. Though her passing left a space only heaven could fill, we find comfort in knowing he is now reunited with his bride — surely dancing with her again, just as they did through life.

A man of the outdoors, Carl loved to hunt and fish, but nothing brought him more joy than gathering his entire family together. Whether it was a fish fry, a backyard party, or simply a porch full of voices and laughter, he was happiest when surrounded by those he loved. His home was a place where everyone was welcome, and his presence made every gathering feel complete.

Carl was known for his strength, his quick humor, and the deep love he carried for his family. He helped raise not only his children but many of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, leaving his steady hand and gentle guidance on generations. In one of life’s greatest blessings, he even lived to meet his great-great-grandchildren — a legacy of love that stretches far beyond his years.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Gaynell Ladner; his parents, Hazel Ladner and Joseph “Joe Pete” Ladner; his son-in-law, Randy Necaise; and many dear siblings.

He is survived by his brother, Donald “Odice” Ladner; his children, Carl “C.J.” Ladner Jr. (Kelli), Beverly Necaise, and Bettynell Ladner; and his grandchildren, Randy “Jerome” Necaise (Leta), Eric Necaise, Marisa Peoples (Kenny), Erin Kolb (Matthew), and Tyler Ladner (Yui). He also leaves behind his great-grandchildren, Randi Peoples, Raegan Peoples (Nathan), Dawson Peoples, Maggie Peoples, Weston Kolb, and Evelyn Kolb; and his great-great-grandchildren, Adalynn, Colson, and Wrenley.

He leaves behind a family who will forever carry his stories, his lessons, and the warmth of his presence in their hearts. Though he will be deeply missed, we rejoice in the promise that he is whole again, reunited with his beloved Gaynell, and at peace in the presence of the Lord he faithfully trusted.
