Brenda Marie (Wedgeworth) Parker

October 15, 1943 — February 17, 2024

McHenry

Brenda Marie Parker, 80, passed away February 17th, surrounded by her family at her home in McHenry. She was born October 15, 1943 in Gulfport, part of a family of ten, and one of five children to Seabron, Sr. and Estelle (Eley) Wedgeworth. She grew up in the Saucier community, a South MS country girl. Her family was resourceful in many ways, making syrup, charcoal, growing gardens, and much more which she picked up along the way. In school, Brenda played basketball, graduating from Perkinston High School in 1958. She married Bobby Parker in 1962 and the young couple made their home in McHenry, and she has called it home since. Brenda spent her life taking care of her home and family. She enjoyed sewing, painting, and gardening around her home. She could do just about anything she wanted, but whatever it was, it had to be just right. If it wasn't, she would take it apart and do it again. That's just how meticulous Brenda was. She is remembered as a devoted and loving sister, wife, mother and grandmother. A caring, loving wife to Bobby and devoted mother to her two sons. From bakery-worthy cakes to building legos, Brenda supported her family in whatever they were doing. Her grandkids were just as special to her, always crafting and creating heirloom clothing and quilts that were photographed and celebrated. You can't really say she had spare time because she was always busy either in her greenhouse, her yard and garden, or sitting behind her sewing machine. Her efforts went far beyond her home as well, helping out in the community with the Brownie and Girl Scouts, sports teams, and so much more. She showed baking-care for her neighbors and family with her famous pound cake for sick visits and youth fundraisers alike. An inspiring lady who loved and cared for those that she came in contact with on her path, to say that she will be missed is an understatement. She will forever be loved and missed by all who knew her. Brenda was preceded by her parents, Seabron, Sr. and Estelle Wedgeworth, her brothers: Larry, Zack, Wally, and Mickey Wedgeworth, sisters Geri Nobles, Lois Wagner, and Adele Goff; and her infant daughter, Bobbie Marie Parker. Left to cherish her memories are: her loving husband of over 61 years, Bobby; their boys, Robert (Angie) Parker of McHenry and Brock (Kristen) Parker of Birmingham, AL; her sister Elaine Parker of Saucier and her brother Sebron (Ellen) Wedgeworth. Brenda leaves a legacy of four grandchildren: Lauren (Andrew) Collins, Brian Parker, and twins Annabeth and Isabel Parker, along with numerous extended family, friends and neighbors through the years. Her final wishes were to be cremated, which her family is honoring. The family is holding a Celebration of Life in her honor, Tuesday afternoon from 3 until 6 PM, at the McHenry Community Center. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Parker family in their time of need and asks that you remember them in your thoughts and prayers through the days ahead.
