Biser Roman Ladner

Biser Roman Ladner, 77 and long-time resident of the Steep Hollow community, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family Monday morning, June 21st. Born December 28, 1943 in the Steep Hollow community, he was one of six children to Joe Biser and Nolene (Cuevas) Ladner. He worked as a truck driver and member of the Teamsters for over 40 years, retiring from Yellow Freight. A Christian by faith and member at Community Baptist Church, he was also a proud veteran of the Mississippi Army National Guard. Those who knew him best know him as "Buddy" and he was a life-long resident of Steep Hollow. He enjoyed racing pigeons and being a member of the South Mississippi Racing Pigeon Club. He loved hunting and working out in his shop. Buddy will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by a family who cherished and loved him deeply. He was preceded by his parents, Joseph and Nolene Ladner; his two sisters, June Evelyn Shaw and Betty Joe Dedeaux, and two brothers, Clyde and Ronald Ladner. Left to cherish his memories are: his loving wife, soul-mate and best friend for over 56 years, Jewel; their two children, Chad (Shelli) Ladner and Dawn (Wayne) Odom, both of Steep Hollow; and his remaining brother, Don Ladner of Poplarville. Buddy leaves a legacy of five grandchildren: Jeret (Courtney) Howard, Coty (Rachel) Odom, Dusty (Chelsea) Ladner, Katelyn Ladner and Shyann Odom (Aaron Spillman), with seven great-grands: Gracelynn, Aleeyah, Ronin, Nash, Ruby, Mia and Leland, along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and neighbors through the years. Services have been set for Friday, June 25th at Community Baptist Church. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, followed by the funeral service at 1:00 PM. Afterward, he will be interred in the County Side Cemetery off Connie Hariel Road.
