Billy Joe Ladner, 59 of Saucier, passed away July 11, 2023 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 6, 1964 in Gulfport, the oldest of four children to Billy Brendall and Beverly (Peterson) Ladner. Billy Joe grew up in Saucier, a South MS country boy that enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, go-carts, and so much more. He also grew up around animals and enjoyed hanging out with his friends, which often led to a bit of mischief along they way. He attended Harrison county schools, graduating with the Red Rebel Class of 1983 and promptly went to work and started his family. Billy Joe eventually wound up at Browne and Root working in the warehouse for sixteen years or so. He is remembered as a very loving son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather, as well as uncle and trusted friend to boot. Though his size could be intimidating, those who truly knew him understood what a big 'ol teddy bear he was. Billy Joe loved his family and doing things with them. Mostly anything outdoors, like fishing, camping, and such. And family get-togethers, well they were always a plus for him! When it was just him, Billy Joe could usually be found watching Heartland or one of his hunting shows on television. Otherwise, it was definitely Sanford and Son. Billy Joe worked hard his entire life. He made sure that his family had whatever they needed day in and day out. For all that and more, this gentle giant will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by all whose life he touched. He was preceded by his parents, Billy and Beverly Ladner; two sons, Johnathon and Christian Ladner, and an infant grandchild. Left to cherish his memories are: his loving wife of thirty-two years, Melinda; his children: Star (Matt) Wyatt of Natchitoches, LA, Amanda (Michael) Burnette of Wiggins, Joseph (Miranda) Ladner of Saucier, Raven (Dalton) Bass of Pass Christian, Synora Ladner (Wesley Smith) of Silver Run, and Selena Peterson (Tabby Williams) of MO; his brothers, Kirk and Archie Ladner, both of Saucier, and his sister Kelly (Kevin) LaFonatiane (Sister) of Bay Stg. Louis; with his mother and father-in-law, Tim and Linda Huskey of Picayune. He leaves a legacy of eleven grandchildren: Austin, Lyndsey, Anthony, Jesse, Trinity, Johnathon, Jr., Noah, Elijah, Gatlyn, Gracelyn, and Grayson, along with numerous extended family and countless friends. Services will be held at Wolf Creek Baptist Church in Kiln, with Pastor Sean Head officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM Friday, July 14th, followed by the funeral service at 2:00 PM Saturday afternoon, with interment to follow in the church cemetery. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Ladner family in their time of need and asks that you remember them in your thoughts and prayers through the days ahead.
