Bette Doye McDavitt, 65 of Perkinston but originally from Plantation, FL, passed away Sunday morning, January 17th at Memorial Hospital in Gulfport. She was born November 7, 1955 in Broward county, FL, the oldest of three children to William and Marilynn (Cornell) Boye. Bette grew up in Plantation and was an art lover from early on. She had a keen eye for art of all kinds, especially recognizing excellent work from young talented artists. She enjoyed collecting, but was also a talented artist herself, creating many drawings and paintings over the years. She married Jason in the early 90s and spent her working career as a secretary at a local propane company. Bette loved her family and enjoyed having kids, grandkids and friends over at her home. Both her and Jason had recently purchased property in the Magnolia community in Stone county, with plans to build a home large enough to have plenty of family come stay a while. She also loved hearing a good story and had become quite the bargain shopper, with frequent stops in at Two Fat Friends, Southbound Overstock and many other similar spots. Bette is remembered as a humble person that loved her husband and family. A caring, devoted mother and wife, she will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by all whose life she touched. Bette was preceded by her father, William Boye. Left to cherish her memories are: her loving husband Jason; their children: Jason McDavitt, Jr. of IA, Jesse (Heather) Boyce of Perkinston, Ryan (Jessica) McDavitt of AZ and Joey Boyce of Plantation, FL; her mother, Marilynn Boye of Ocala, FL, one sister, Donna Marley of Plantation, and her brother Chuck (Lulu) Boye of Davey, FL. Bette leaves a legacy of seven grandchildren, along with numerous extended family, friends and neighbors through the years. Her final wishes were to be cremated, which her husband is honoring, with a memorial service to be held at a later date. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the McDavitt family in their time of need, asking everyone to keep Jason and the entire family in your thoughts and prayer over the coming days.
