Barbara Hegwood, a beacon of love and joy, departed from this life on August 16, 2024, one day before her 67th birthday, in Gulfport, MS, leaving a legacy of laughter and cherished memories behind. Born in New Orleans, LA, on August 17, 1957, Barbara's vibrant spirit and loving nature touched everyone she encountered throughout her remarkable life. An aficionado of melody and harmony, Barbara's love for music was surpassed only by the joy she found in her family's company. Her Coca-Cola product collection was a quirky testament to her fun-loving character. Known for her proficiency in "sarcasm" and her unapologetic strength in being forthright, Barbara could brighten the most solemn moments with her wit and would proudly applaud her daughter's musical performances with heartfelt zeal. Barbara Hegwood was the embodiment of love in motion, and her absence leaves a void that will be filled with the countless memories and laughter she gifted to all who knew her. Her luminous spirit will be profoundly missed, yet eternally cherished. Barbara's heart was a haven of warmth, and she nurtured her relationships with unyielding love and care. She is preceded in death by her mother Ellen Elizabeth O'Neal, her brother Ricky Hegwood, and her niece Monica Mckay. She is survived by her daughter LaTisha O'Neal Walker, her brothers Joseph O'Neal Walker and Eric Johnson, her sister Maggie and brother-in-law Donnie, cherished sibling at heart Carol Ferguson alongside Mike, her sister-in-law Margie, her beloved grandchildren Gabrielle, Precious, Roltunda, Joshua, Michael, and her cherished nieces  Amber, and Jackie, nephews Robert, Alex and Ricky Jr., and great-nieces and nephew Navaeh, Kena and William will continue to honor her memory by living out the values she exemplified.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 25 at 12 o'clock at 35 Noel Hickman Rd Perkinston, MS 39573.
