Barbara Kathlene Meier, 45, passed away on February 04, 2023 at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg. She was born on August 02, 1977 in Kenosha, WI., the youngest of three children to Floyd Collins and Barbara Jane (Sellers) Grisham. She grew up in North Alabama town of Rogersville and spent lot of time playing with her siblings. Kathlene, or Kat to those who knew her best, attended school in Rogersville and obtained her GED, later going to school and obtaining her ADN from MS Gulf Coast Community College. Kat enjoyed nursing, spending over twenty years in hospital ICUs, ERs, doing liaison work, and more. She is lovingly remembered as a kind and loving woman with a self-driven and strong-willed approach. If Kathlene decided she was going to...she did, and nothing could get in her way. She loved her family and children, working very hard to provide for them. Her home was always open to her kid's friends, and she loved them as her own as well. Kat was the family care giver as well, eager to help any who needed her. She had a huge heart for animals, mostly cats but dogs as well, and never met a stray that she didn't at least try to bring home and care for. To relax, Kat liked nothing more than heading to Dirt Cheap and other places to shop and plunder for things. She collected pocket knives and other small things through the years, and possessed a "direct" sense of humor that some might even call somewhat morbid. Above all, Kat was a loving wife, mother, friend, and nurse to many through the years. For that and so much more, Kat will be missed dearly by all whose life she touched. She was preceded by her father, Floyd Grisham, Sr. Left to cherish her memories are: her loving husband of almost thirty years, Niels Meier; their children, daughters Ashley (Steven Herring) Meier of Wiggins and Halie (Alex) Cracchiolo of San Diego, CA; her mother Barbara Grisham of of Wiggins; her brother Floyd (Alexis) Grisham Gulf Shores, AL, and sister Rose (Mark) Guice of St. Martin, along her numerous animals, and a host of extended family, friends, and patients through the years. Kat's final wishes were to be cremated, which her family is honoring, and may hold a memorial service at a later date. "Though we are not side by side right now, that distance is to love as wind is to fire. It blows out the small one and fans the big ones." Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Meier family in their time of need and asks that you remember them in your thoughts and prayers through the days ahead.
