Mr. Austin Joseph Ladner Sr

Mr. Austin J. Ladner, Sr, 71 of Gulfport, passed away Monday at Memorial Hospital. Austin was born April 9, 1946 in Gulfport, the son of Purvis and Pamelia "Jack" Ladner. He grew up in the Lizana community of rural Harrison county, and enjoyed being outdoors. Among his favorite things to do were hunting, fishing, and hanging out with his brothers and friends at the sand bar. Austin enjoyed life, making a career as a welder until his retirement from DMP in Ocean Springs a few years ago. Since then, he has enjoyed family, especially his grandchildren. He liked to sit under the pecan trees cracking pecans for them. He will be fondly remembered as a firm, determined man, and will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved him. Austin is survived by his wife, Mildred; his two children, his daughter, Janet (Wesley, Jr.) Ladner, and his son, Austin J. (Angie) Ladner, Jr.; his siblings, Geniva Necaise, Merle (Jarvis) Cuevas, Eva Gay (Coy) McKay, Cotton (Joan) Ladner, Reginald (Verna Mae) Ladner, and Earnest (Gloria Ann) Ladner; his six grandchildren, Sarah, Savannah, Caylee, Michelle, Brandon, and Brittany Ladner; 9 great-grands, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his parents, Purvis & Jack Ladner, one sister, Mary Ann Deschamp; and 3 brothers Revernal, Garvis, and Jason Ladner. The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday, Nov. 3rd, beginning at 1pm at Trinity Funeral Services in McHenry, with a chapel service set for 3pm. Interment will follow at Wolfe River Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that those who wish to donate to help with the funeral service expense, as Mr. Austin had no insurance.
